About Us 

My Pet began in 1990 in the small NSW country town of Mathoura (situated between Deniliquin and Echua) when  dear little Tuppy, a short-haired Jack Russell, shivered constantly because he was so cold.

At first we tried putting a cute little jumper on him, but he went absolutely berserk and clearly hated it! (Later on I figured out why!)

I have loved sewing since I was about 8 years old and as a qualified dressmaker it seemed the answer was to make him a warm water-proofed coat. So after trying several designs I decided on one that Tuppy preferred. Then his little JR girlfriend, Sailor, needed one.

Soon it became clear that there was quite a large demand and I began supplying pet shops and vets.

Moving from Mathoura to Albury, NSW I continued to expand the range of products. Tuppy and Bindi (my other Jack Russell) 'dog-test' most of the new designs and products.  Bindi is very patient and understands of the importance of standing still when garments are being pinned.  She loves attention and being a model but, although she tries really hard, mouse hunting is clearly her better talent!

It is my goal to make and sell good quality products that are reasonably priced. In addition they must fit well and be comfortable for dogs to wear, as well as being practical to care for.  I discovered the reason that Tuppy hated that first jumper was because it was simply not a comfortable design. He has enjoyed wearing the fleecy jumpers I designed and spent many years happily wearing them and it has become one of our most popular products.

My Pet dog jumpers, coats, hats and other products are worn and used by dogs all over Australia (as well as overseas) - from remote country areas to cities, from the most pampered pooches to the hardest working farm dogs, as well as by many Police and official working dogs in their custom-made uniforms.

Tuppy retired and finally went to doggie-heaven late August 2007 after a very long and happy life. His little mate Bindi still helps whenever required.  She loves being the sole recipient of attention although she misses his companionship.
